Overview

Varanasi, or Benaras, (also known as Kashi) is one of the oldest living cities in the world. Varanasi`s Prominence in Hindu mythology is virtually unrevealed. Mark Twain, the English author and literature, who was enthralled by the legend and sanctity of Benaras, once wrote : “Benaras is older than history, older than tradition, older even than legend and looks twice as old as all of them put together. ”

The land of Varanasi (Kashi) has been the ultimate pilgrimage spot for Hindus for ages. Hindus believe that one who is graced to die on the land of Varanasi would attain salvation and freedom from the cycle of birth and re-birth. Abode of Lord Shiva and Parvati, the origins of Varanasi are yet unknown. Ganges in Varanasi is believed to have the power to wash away the sins of mortals

Day 1 : Arrival in Varanasi
  • Arrive at Varanasi’s Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport or Varanasi Junction Railway Station.
  • Check in to your hotel or guesthouse in Varanasi and freshen up.
  • Explore the iconic ghats in Varanasi, including Dashashwamedh Ghat, Manikarnika Ghat, and Assi Ghat.
  • Visit the Kashi Vishwanath Temple, one of the most sacred Hindu temples.
  • Attend the mesmerizing Ganga Aarti ceremony at Dashashwamedh Ghat.

Start your day early with a sunrise boat ride on the Ganges to witness the morning rituals and the lively ghats.

  • Breakfast: Enjoy breakfast at a local eatery.
  • Continue exploring the city’s ghats and winding streets.Drive to Sarnath, a significant Buddhist pilgrimage site, and explore its attractions, including the Dhamek Stupa, Sarnath Museum, and the Sarnath Archaeological Site.
  • Visit other prominent temples like Durga Temple, Tulsi Manas Temple, and Bharat Mata Temple
  • Attend another evening aarti at a different ghat or return to Dashashwamedh Ghat for a different experience.
  • Morning: Check out of your hotel in Varanasi and drive to Ayodhya (approximately 6-7 hours by road).
  • Afternoon: Ayodhya Exploration
    • Visit Ram Janmabhoomi, the birthplace of Lord Rama.
    • Explore Hanuman Garhi, Kanak Bhawan, and other significant temples and sites in Ayodhya.
  • Evening: Witness Ganga Aarti in Ayodhya
    • Ayodhya also has a Ganga Aarti ceremony on the banks of the Sarayu River, which you can attend.
  • Morning: After breakfast, drive back to Varanasi.
  • Afternoon: Arrive in Varanasi, have lunch, and do some last-minute shopping or sightseeing.
