Day 1 : Arrival and Evening Ganga Aarti

  • Check in to your hotel or guesthouse and freshen up.
  • Start your exploration with a visit to Kashi Vishwanath Temple, one of the most sacred Hindu temples.
  • Stroll along the ghats, including Dashashwamedh Ghat, Manikarnika Ghat, and Assi Ghat.
  • Enjoy the picturesque views of the Ganges River and the activities on the ghats.
  • Head back to Dashashwamedh Ghat in the evening.
  • Attend the mesmerizing Ganga Aarti ceremony, which takes place daily around sunset.
  • You can hire a boat to get a unique perspective of the aarti from the river.
  • Start your day early with a sunrise boat ride on the Ganges. You can hire a boat from Dashashwamedh Ghat.
  • Witness the morning rituals, temple bells, and the ghats coming to life.
  • Drive to Sarnath, a significant Buddhist pilgrimage site, located just a few kilometers from Varanasi.
  • Visit the Dhamek Stupa, Sarnath Museum, and the famous Sarnath Archaeological Site.
  • Spend your afternoon exploring other prominent temples like Durga Temple, Tulsi Manas Temple, and Bharat Mata Temple.
  • Continue exploring the ghats and the city’s narrow winding streets.
  • You can choose to attend another evening aarti at a different ghat or return to Dashashwamedh Ghat for a different experience.
  • Participate in a traditional Indian cultural experience like a yoga session or take a silk weaving or pottery workshop. There are many centers offering such activities in Varanasi.
  • Spend your afternoon shopping for Banarasi silk sarees, jewelry, and other souvenirs in the local markets.
  • Explore more temples and ghats, if you wish.
  • Attend a classical music or dance performance, which is often held in the city in the evening.
  • Take a day trip to Chunar, a historic town located about 40 kilometers from Varanasi.
  • Explore Chunar Fort, known for its strategic location and scenic views of the Ganges.
  • Head back to Varanasi in the afternoon.
